Wake up early for the most anticipated day of your safari. After breakfast, your guide will transfer you to the appropriate Bwindi park headquarters for registration and the morning gorilla trekking briefing. Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers will explain the trekking procedures, safety guidelines and rules for observing the gorillas. You will then enter the forest with your assigned ranger guides and trackers. Bwindi is a mountainous tropical forest, so trekking conditions vary. Your trek may involve steep slopes, thick vegetation, muddy trails and changing weather. The amount of time needed to find the gorillas also varies because they move freely within their natural habitat. Then comes the unforgettable moment. Once your group reaches its assigned habituated mountain gorilla family, visitors on the standard trekking experience normally have up to one hour to observe the gorillas, subject to conservation rules and ranger instructions. Watch quietly as the gorillas feed, rest, groom and interact. Seeing these primates at close range within their natural forest environment is an experience very different from conventional wildlife viewing. Afterward, trek back through the forest and meet your driver-guide. Return to your lodge for relaxation. Depending on when your trek finishes and the package selected, you may also have the opportunity to participate in an optional community or cultural experience. After breakfast, check out of your lodge and begin the return journey toward Rwanda. Travel through the beautiful southwestern Ugandan countryside before reaching the Uganda–Rwanda border. Complete immigration procedures and continue toward Kigali. Depending on your schedule, confirmed package and available time, the journey can include an optional Kigali experience or lunch stop. Your Green Canopy Adventures Uganda driver-guide will then transfer you to your agreed Kigali hotel or Kigali International Airport. Travelers flying out on the same day should book a flight that allows sufficient time for the road journey, border procedures and possible traffic delays. Your 3-day Kigali–Uganda gorilla trekking safari ends in Kigali. You may leave Uganda after only three days, but the experience of standing quietly in Bwindi's rainforest with mountain gorillas may stay with you much longer.
